Health Insurance and Viagra

It's true that many insurers started covering Viagra after men began scrambling for this impotency "wonder drug," and yet they don't cover contraceptives. But there's been a movement afoot recently to make it an equal playing field.

In just the past two years, nine states have enacted laws requiring insurance companies to cover the costs of certain prescription contraceptives under certain conditions (of course, there are still many loopholes, such as exempting some "religious" employers and insurers or those that object on "moral grounds"). Other states are still addressing the controversial issue. Opponents of these laws, known as "pill bills," say they will drive up the costs of health insurance.
