Good news for Allstate policyholders in Texas. After a contested hearing, the Texas Department of Insurance has ordered Lloyds Allstate, the Allstate Insurance company operating in TX, to reduce their home insurance rates by 5% for all policyholders. Additionally, the insurer must refund all policyholders the difference between the rates they have been paying since December of 2004 and the new reduced rate plus interest (13.25%). This will cost Allstate in the neighborhood of $60 million.
