The Associated Health Plan (AHP) bill has passed the House vote eight times but has not seen success in the Senate. Senator Snowe, who chairs the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship is attempting to get the health insurance legislation, that she introduced, on the floor of the Senate for discussion. She believes that allowing small and medium sized businesses to pool together will not only decrease the monthly premiums for employees of these businesses, it could create more competition in the health insurance marketplace and ultimately help to decrease the number of uninsured Americans and cap the soaring cost of healthcare.
