Florida wants to get tougher on auto insurance fraud, but then again who doesn't, with the possible exception of those who commit the fraud. In addition to hiring an additional prosecutor to specialize in auto insurance fraud, several new proposals have been made by Florida Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher. Gallagher would like to see the creation of an "paper auto accident" by falsifying documents made into a second-degree felony carrying a two year prison sentence. He would also like to revoke the drivers licenses of those who use a vehicle to commit auto insurance fraud.
