Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York took aim at home and auto insurer Allstate Insurance. The property insurer pulled out of New york City, Long Island and Westchester counties last month citing higher than average risk of hurricane damages in the coming years. While they are refusing to write new policies on homes in the area, they have continued to write new policies for condos and co-ops. Sen. Schumer claims Allstate's move was not based on risk management but on controlling profits and urges Allstate to return to doing business in downstate New York.
