Residents of Osceola County, Florida may see a decrease in their homeowners insurance rates, depending on who their insurer is. Many, although not all, insurers factor in ISO fire protection ratings when setting home insurance rates. ISO, an private information company, rates areas within counties on a 1-10 scale for fire protection, with 10 meaning there is little or no fire-protection available in the area and 1 meaning there is exemplary protection. Most of Osceola County has recently been bumped from a class 6 to a class 4. Increased building in the county leading to increased fire protection is responsible for the bump. Even if your property is in an area where protection levels did not change or changed very little, there is still hope for you. If you see a fire hydrant installed within 1000 yards of your home where there was none before, you can inform your insurance company and ask them for a rate reduction.
